Dr. Stephen Baker is a developmental optometrist and native New Yorker. He did his undergraduate training at Binghamton University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a BS degree in Chemistry and completed his optometric training at the prestigious University Optometric Center in New York City. Dr. Baker then went on to intern at the world renowned Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, subspecializing in Low Vision for the partially sighted and visually impaired and vision therapy for traumatic brain injury patients and children with vision related learning disabilities. He also completed an externship at the Syracuse VA Medical Center in 2002 specializing in Ocular Disease. Dr. Baker has lectured extensively to community groups and professionals in teaching, occupational therapy, nursing and optometry. He received the 2011 New York State Young Optometrist of the Year Award, which recognized his commitment to patients and clinical excellence. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) and Associate member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). Dr. Baker is also an active New York State Optometric Association (NYSOA) and American Optometric Association (AOA) member, serving as past President of the Central New York Chapter. Dr. Baker has always believed that the doctor patient relationship is the single most important factor in providing quality, accurate, and professional health care, and has built his practice on this fundamental philosophy.
